The Reverend John Carl Swanson
was born in Quincy, Massachusetts on August 2, 1957. He is a
graduate of Eastern Nazarene College, Andover Newton Theological
School and Virginia Seminary. Ordained on October 26, 1985, Rev.
Swanson has served as Chaplain and Senior Counselor of Maine
Maritime Academy.
From 1987 - 1991 he was the Pastor of Central Congregational
Church in Middleboro. With his wife, the Rev. Martha Swanson, he
helped gather Christ Congregational Church in Middleboro in
1992. He has been Pastor of Union Congregational Church since
1994.
A
former Navy Chaplain, Rev. Swanson is also a substance abuse
counselor.
The pastor is an avid hiker and sailor, and he makes his home in
Wollaston with his wife, Rev. Martha Swanson, his two children,
Stephanie and Cassandra and their dog, Wicky.
Rev. Swanson is also an adjunct professor of Bible and Liberal
Arts at Eastern Nazarene College.
